Selling the BRZ

I have decided to sell the BRZ. It has been an awesome car, and I love owning it, but I'd rather sell it and get a project to get my sportscar/beater fix. I've wanted something to work on/modify/mess with in the garage for awhile now, and seeing that I take public transportation into work, I only drive the BRZ a few times a week as it is (3210 total on it since September of last year). Also, having a home to take care of now, owning a truck would make some things a lot easier (I have a few projects going, and hauling lumber home in the XJ isn't the easiest), and the new Colorado/Canyon and really captured my attention. I plan to sell the BRZ soon, use the XJ through this winter while saving up for a Canyon/Colorado next fall. Once I get rid of the XJ, I'll get a project to talk about, so keep an eye out for that.

If anyone wants to know more, its in Pittsburgh, DGM, 6M/T, Premium Trim Level, looking to get $23K obo.

It's too bad it's not blue, I would seriously tempted.

I drove one Monday, and fell in love. Such a great car.

I know this might not be very Jalop but I am jealous of people with good public transit options. The idea of only driving when I want and not when I have to sounds great.

I think that's the best reason to sell a car.

You could always plasti-dip it! haha

Yeah, in my case, it takes the same amount of time and I dont have to worry about traffic ever. Plus, work pays for my transit pass so that leaves more cash money for other things (which is why i want a project of some sort to play with).

Dont worry, I'll have some other project/sportscar soon enough. I'll be sure to post pictures of the POS when it comes in.

When I was in NYC (the nearest big city to me is Indianapolis, the buses suck) I actually enjoyed taking the subway wherever, whenever. When you drive, you have to be somewhat involved, but with public transit you don't have to do much of anything.

It also means that you can make driving more of a special thing, and can have an insanely impractical car.

I would consider a wrap. Plasti-dip is for wheels and trim pieces. Whole cars get nylon fabric thank you.

Yeah and since you have public transit for work there's no real need for a running car.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Make the driving more special.

Just get a cheap cargo trailer from harbor freight instead of a truck and tow it with the XJ. More money for car projects, and a trailer with a ramp will be easier when you want to transport heavy items.

I actually do miss having a beater. Good luck with that … but I'm still sad to a BRZ go.

I've thought of this as well, but want to see how the jeep fares through its second winter as I've had concerns on its longevity as well. (The previous 162K miles that were put on it were definitely rough, I've been a bit nicer to it, but hard to tell).

That works as well. Someone from my highschool has been plasti-dipping a bunch of cars lately, and pictures of them seem to have come out decent (haven't seen it in person though).

If I didn't already have a car loan I'd be all over this. I'll be starting dahntahn next week and work will pay for a bus pass, so I could make do with less practical transport.

Either way trailer>pickup. Easier loading, you don't have to worry about trashing it, and you can get trailers that a decent sized sedan can even tow. In a lot of states you can get a permanent tag, so registration isn't even a factor most of the time.

Yeah, I want something that I can make 100% my own, without needing to worry about paying it off, or preventing myself from getting somewhere in the winter. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten a beater car last year (but i also didn't own a house last year, so the whole life situation has changed and i need to adopt to it, haha)

Yeah, and its honestly a car that should be driven more, I just dont get enough time to other than weekly errands and a couple fun drives a month. And I've always wanted a project car of some sorts, so it fulfills another goal of mine .

You can always get another loan! Haha. And I get to ride the T in currently, so I get where you're coming from.

Part of the point of a pickup is to be able to use it as one, so I don't have an issue trashing the bed or taking it out in the woods. I do see how trailers are useful, but I've grown up using trucks for various things and havent had an issue with them. Plus, i wouldn't need a separate place to park the jeep and trailer

Hahah- first look, I'd love to have one, but I'm thinking something more practical for the winter (when i do most of my long distance driving) and a project for the summer (so I can wait on the side of the road in 90 degree weather over freezing weather).
